BIRCH, NATURAL E3KN
ROTARY CUT
1/2" - 4'X8'
VENEER CORE

Birch (Yellow and Sweet) grows in the Eastern U.S., principally Northern and Lake states.  It can also be found in the Appalachians, extending into areas of northern Georgia.  Availability is limited to some extent. The average tree is 60 to 70 feet in height.  Birch prefers valleys and stream banks although it adapts itself to higher grounds.

Depending on the species, Birch sapwood appears light, with a cream-like or white color.  The heartwood may be light reddish-brown or dark brown tinged with red.  The close, straight grain is finely textured and uniform in appearance, with the grain more prominent in Yellow Birch than Paper Birch.  On occasion, some Birch species will present a curly grain.

The wood works fairly easily, glues well with care, takes stain extremely well, and nails and screws satisfactorily where pre-boring is advised. It dries rather slowly with little degrade, but it has moderately high shrinkage, so is susceptible to movement in performance.

The main uses of Birch include furniture, millwork and paneling, doors, flooring, kitchen cabinets, turnings and toys.

NATURAL VENEER is composed of both heartwood and sapwood and is generally less expensive than select or uniform veneers.

ROTARY CUT:  Rotary cutting is a method used to peel a log into thin sheets of wood as if unrolled from a spool, like paper towels . Rotary cut decorative veneer can give a variegated grain appearance, and can vary tremendously. It is usually the least expensive veneer style. Rotary cutting is the only way to achieve a 48" wide whole-piece face.
